Guide · P7M to PDF

Convert .p7m to PDF

Have a document.pdf.p7m and need the PDF to read, print or forward? No real conversion is needed: the PDF is already inside the signature envelope. MSGView takes it out untouched, byte for byte, right in your browser — no signature software and no upload.

P7M to PDF in 3 steps

  1. Open MSGViewGo to msgview.app in any browser, phones included.
  2. Drop the .pdf.p7m fileDouble-signed (.p7m.p7m), base64, .tsd and .m7m files work too.
  3. Save or open the PDFThe original PDF appears as an attachment: “Open” to read it, “Save” to download it with the right name (without .p7m).

Why no real conversion is needed

A .pdf.p7m file is the original PDF plus a CAdES signature. Removing the envelope gives back exactly the signed PDF, with no quality loss and no changes — we checked it byte for byte on real files from Italian public bodies.

What about an .xml.p7m invoice?

A signed e-invoice contains an .xml file, not a PDF. MSGView extracts the original XML; to read it as an invoice, open it in your accounting software or a FatturaPA viewer.

Signature read, not verified

Above the PDF you see what the signing certificate says (name, organisation, tax ID). MSGView checks neither the signature nor the certificate; use your signature software for a legally meaningful check.

FAQ

How do I turn a p7m into a pdf for free?

Drop the .pdf.p7m on msgview.app and save the PDF that appears as an attachment. Free, no sign-up.

Is the extracted PDF identical to the original?

Yes — it is exactly the document that was signed, unchanged.

Does it work on Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes, everything happens in the browser.

Is the file uploaded to a server?

No. It is opened in your browser's memory and never leaves your device.

Is the extracted PDF still legally signed?

The legal value is in the signature: the PDF on its own is an unsigned copy. Keep the original .p7m too.
